  • Library services
Course-Integrated Instruction

Course 2.009

Students learn how to solve a series of information problems related to each stage of a subject course, i.e., a series of information problem solving concepts is incorporated into the subject course design. Librarians are involved with students throughout the entire course, guiding them through various information problem solving processes. Typical contents include: 

  • Defining and articulating information problems
  • Identifying key information resources
  • Utilizing appropriate search methods
  • Translating information needs into effective search statements
  • Analyzing and evaluating information
  • Organizing and presenting information
Special Workshop

Barton, the Online Catalog

 

 

Students learn to master a set of specific information skills, focusing on one specific information resource or information resources related to a field of interdisciplinary study. For example: 

  • Barton (The Online Catalog) Workshop
  • The Web of Science (Citation Databases) Workshop
  • Patent Searching Workshop
  • Engineering and Market Information Workshop
Individual

Students learn specific skills depending on their individual needs and upon the individual's request. Typically it takes 10-30 minutes to complete a session. This can occur either at the Reference Desk or by appointment with a subject specialist.
